Brake Lights
Julian Austin/Daniel LeBlanc
She was waiting for me at the door
With tears in her eyes she said
I don’t love you anymore
Then she walked by me
And put her things in the car
Thinking she’s just a little hurt
She won’t drive too far
But no goodbyes
No lookin’ back
She just took off with the night
There goes my last chance to make it right
But this time the brake lights didn’t come on
Oh this time I watched those taillights
Go till they were gone
I thought for sure she’d turn around
But this time I was wrong
Oh but this time the brake lights didn’t come on
A torn picture of us left on the steps
Beside it, her wedding ring
Another cold reminder that she’s left
And even the dog knows
That she ain’t comin’ back
To see those headlights reappear
I’d give anything for that
If she’d come back
This time I’d try
To be that better man
If she turned around
And drive back into my life
But this time the brake lights didn’t come on
Oh this time I watched those taillights
Go till they were gone
I thought for sure she’d turn around
But this time I was wrong
Oh but this time those brake lights didn’t come on
This time the brake lights didn’t come on
Oh this time I watched those taillights
Go till they were gone
Thought for sure she’d turn around
But this time I was wrong
Oh but this time those brake lights didn’t come on
Oh but this time those brake lights didn’t come on
