Highway Song

Julian Austin

Pulling into Memphis

Hear a song takes me one more mile

This ol’ truck has done its time

Time to lay these eighteen wheels to rest

Stepping down from the cab

I look into these eyes

My little girl says Dad

You’re home to stay

I wipe my eyes

And turn my head away

This highway

It goes through heaven

It goes through hell

And I’ve burned every mile

I know every fallen angel

I played every sinner’s game

Lord I’ve driven the highways in between

But it’s not the one for me

There comes a time in everyone’s life

When you gotta decide

What’s wrong or right

Cause time waits for no one

And before you know it

Life has passed you by, yes it has

Standing in the rain,

Staring at my rig

I hear that highway calling me

I guess some things

You can’t set free

This highway

It goes through heaven

It goes through hell

And I’ve burned every mile

I know every fallen angel

I played every sinner’s game

Lord I’ve driven the highways in between

On that highway, highway to home

On that highway home
